Features
ICS*™ has a long list of features, and new features will be added
as time permits in response to input from users. Below is the current
list of features. If your organization
has some special needs that are not shared by other users of ICS*™,
we will be happy to work with you on a custom solution that meets your
needs without breaking your budget.
ICS*™ lets you manage the incident while it keeps track of the
data and automates the required reporting.
- Supports the Unified Command structure.
- Runs on either a laptop or desktop computer under Windows 98, ME,
NT 4.0, 2000 and XP.
- Will handle essentially an unlimited number of incidents concurrently
(subject to available disk space).
- Only enter information once, thereafter the information is displayed
on pick lists so the operator can simply select the data they need.
- Runs simulations for training purposes or to test out different
scenarios.
- Tracks up to 10 credentials per human resource.
- Optionally uses codes or classification for personnel, equipment,
Task Forces and Groups/Divisions so that it is obvious what a resource
is, ie a fireman, hot shot crew, swat team etc.
- Tracks resources from initial attempted contact (ATC) through arrival
to the incident, incident assignments, checking in and out of the
incident, and demobilization from the incident.
- Can do most tasks directly on the organizational chart, such as
mobilization, assignment, status change as well as creating or releasing
Task Forces, Group/Divisions, Units, etc.
- Prints out completed standard Incident Command System forms.
- Location data can be entered in several lat./long. formats as well
as simultaneously using UTM coordinates.
- Can work on local time or Universal Coordinated Time (UTC), with
or without daylight saving time.
- User settable Span of Control warnings and limits.
- User settable colors.
- User settable mandatory personnel rest time between shifts.
- User settable data entry lead and lag times, ie how far in the past
can the user enter data into a form and how far into the future can
data be entered into a form.
- User settable visual alarm when personnel are late for checking
out of an incident.
- Warning on exiting the program if any resources are still checked
in to an incident.
- Permission to use any form can be set for any user to any combination
of Read, Edit, Add, Print, Delete or Approve.
- Digital signing of forms that require approval.
- Log of most important data entry functions.
- Automatically makes routine entries in the Unit Log. Users can add
other entries as necessary.
- Context sensitive help available for all forms.
- 130 page manual as a pdf file.
- Task Forces can check into and out of the incident as Task Forces,
and the Task Force members can be automatically checked in or out
as the case may be.
- Supports staging areas.
- Supports operational periods.
- Displays and includes incident maps in forms. The maps need to be
scanned or produced in other applications.
The following table lists the standard ICS forms and their level of
support. ICS*™ has over 60 forms, but only the standard forms are
listed here.
